“Why don’t we just pass a mandate that every woman, man and child in America must buy a gun and maybe that would satisfy or satiate our gun manufacturers with reference to how they continuously cause us to do things that are not common sense matters at it pertains to guns,” Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.) said on the House floor last week.

I would diagram that sentence but there’s only so much space on this page.

Last week the House of Representatives passed the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, a measure that would make every state recognize a concealed-carry gun permit issued by any other state.

During the debate on the measure, several Democratic lawmakers including Hastings went over the top with some of their arguments.

“That is a death sentence for many Americans,” said Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.)

“Were there eleven commandments by God? I know about the first ten, but that eleventh one, that ‘thou shalt have the ability to bear arms – I missed that one,” Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.) said.

One thing Crowley missed is what is written in the Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights. Maybe he should check it out.

The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act now makes it way to the Senate.
