Responding to the Dallas shootings that left five police officers dead on Thursday, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) said we can’t yet rule out that the attacks were motivated by radical Islam.

Appearing on Fox Business Channel on Friday, Rep. Gohmert took issue with a previous guest’s declaration that radical Islam was not a factor. It’s too soon to tell, the congressman said:

“Now, you had somebody say a moment ago, Liz, that, well, you know, this didn’t have anything to do with Islam. It’s too early to know that.”

Gohmert cited “rumors” that suspects had visited a mosque prior to shooting the officers, but said it’s too early to tell that, too:

“You know there are rumors that, at least a couple of suspects may have attended the mosque there. We don’t know that; we don’t need to go there.”
