During Friday’s Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority Summit, Representative Byron Donalds shared an inspiring testimony of faith in Christ. One that started with a favorite old country store.

“I was at a Cracker Barrel waiting tables,” said Donalds. “I was a three-star server. I brought your biscuits.”

After a round of laughter from the audience, Donalds explained that he was saved in summer 2001. A lady had come to him and said, “Son, you need to stop running. The Lord is calling you.”

The guest’s words bewildered Donalds. “I was just like, ‘Ma’am, I–I–can I–you know, do you want more biscuits? Want some orange juice?’”

“It hit me hard,” said Donalds, yet it was only during his last shift that he became a follower of Jesus. “It was a table of twelve. They were coming from a revival–and they were great. And as they’re getting on their little bus, the Lord told me, ‘You need to go see these ladies.’”

“I go over to the bus, and I catch the last lady,” Donalds continued. “She goes, ‘Young man, are you okay?’ And I said, ‘Ma’am, the Lord told me to stop running.’ She goes, ‘Oooh, child! Come on, sisters! Come on, sisters! We’re gonna pray over this young man right now.’”

Donalds paused as the audience held their breath in anticipation. “And I gave my life to Christ on that day.”

Now that sounds like an order of faith that was well served.
