Rep. Conyers' Accuser Goes Public: He Asked Me To 'Touch It'

One of U.S. Rep. John Conyers’ accusers has decided to go public, breaking a confidentiality agreement she signed with him in 2015.

Marion Brown stated that the Michigan Democrat asked her to “satisfy him sexually,” during a “Today Show” interview on NBC.

“He pointed to genital areas of his body and asked me to, you know, touch it,” Brown said, referring to a alleged incident that took place after Conyers called her up to his Chicago hotel room. Brown also claims that Conyers "violated" her body.

Rep. Conyers settled a wrongful termination claim with Brown in 2015 for $27,000 using tax payer funds. According to CNN, the 88-year old was admitted to a hospital Thursday morning due to stress.

Brown also gave her reasons for speaking out in spite of her confidentiality agreement, stating, “I feel determined and I feel purposeful. I felt compelled to stand up and speak out to be a voice… I felt it was worth the risk to stand up for all the women in the workforce that are voiceless.”

Brown’s attorney Lisa Bloom reiterated her client’s words, stating that the case was not just about the present situation, but for future victims:

“We want to see reforms in the system. It’s more than just about Marion. She endured a ridiculous system. She had to scramble to find an attorney, his attorney was paid for by the tax payers...Her complaint to Congress was called a ‘request for counseling’... so we would like to speak with the ethics committee and the office of complaints and make this a better system for everyone.
