The shadowy funding behind Biden climate envoy John Kerry has long been a point of contention, and one congressman has a plan to do something about it.

On June 16th, Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) introduced a bill known as the ‘‘No Taxpayer Funding For CZARS Act,” (“CZARS” here being an acronym for “Climate Zealots Advancing Radical Schemes”). Per an official press release, Roy’s bill “would prohibit federal funds from being used for any activity of the special presidential envoy for climate, including salary, administrative, and travel expenses.”

Roy’s bill has earned the support of Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), Scott Perry (R-Pa.), Mary Miller (R-Ill.), Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) and Greg Steube (R-Fla.).

Though the official responsibilities and schedule of the special climate envoy are rather unclear, the proposed budget for Kerry’s office is a whopping $16.5 million. Roy emphasizes that the $16.5 million total ought to be considered a conservative estimate.

This sum, Roy argued, is “ten times” larger than the budget afforded to “elected officials,” which is especially concerning given that how Kerry spends this total exactly is, for the time being, kept behind lock and key.

Those details will most likely not be known in the near future since Kerry’s office has said they won’t comply with a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request from the Boston Herald until October 2024.

In an interview with talk show host and reporter Howie Carr, Roy said the following:

We need to know what John Kerry is doing, and why he’s wasting these dollars, but at the end of the day, we also kind of know, right? I mean, I want to know the details, but you and I both know what he’s doing. He’s flying around in private jets, going around the world, hobnobbing with the elites, undermining the American people who are working hard everyday and can’t afford gas.

Kerry, a former Massachusetts senator (D), presidential nominee, and Secretary of State under former President Barack Obama, has no discernable expertise in climate science.
