Americans believe the media identify with protesters in violent protest situations far more than they do police, tasked with the responsibility of keeping people safe and violence at bay, a new Rasmussen poll reveals.
According to the poll, 49% of Americans feel that most reporters identify more with the protesters in situations such as Charlottesville, Va., or President Trump's Phoenix rally just this past Tuesday.
Only 9% identify more with police.
Thirty-four percent (34%) say reporters side with both the protesters and the police.
A majority of voters (46%) believe President Trump identifies with police in such situations, while only 16% think he sides with the protesters and 24% think he sides with both.
Fourteen percent (14%) poll undecided.
The poll results come as the unrest following the violence in Charlottesville continues. Hundreds of people gathered outside of the Phoenix Convention Center on Tuesday to protest President Trump. Some protesters clashed with police, using gas canisters, rocks and bottles to assault police officers.
The Rasmussen Reports poll was conducted on August 23-24 and has a margin sampling error of 3 percentage points.
