Press Barred from Reporting on Obamacare Conference Call With First Lady

Great news!

If you have questions regarding the upcoming open enrollment period for Obamacare, all of your questions will soon be answered.

Unfortunately, the president and the Secretary of Health and Human Services must not be available because the White House has charged First Lady Michelle Obama to conduct a conference call where she will explain the enrollment process to anyone who cares to listen.

Well, almost anyone.

Members of the press are not invited.

The White House e-mail announcing the conference call has been billed as being “off the record and not for press purposes.” Which begs the question, what top secret  information will the first lady be conveying to  supporters that the administration does not want the media to report on?

The email was sent out on Wednesday and the conference call will be held Friday at 1:10pm.

It reads in part:

“You're invited to join a conference call this Friday, November 14 at 1:10 p.m. ET with First Lady Michelle Obama to discuss the upcoming open enrollment period for the health insurance marketplaces under the Affordable Care Act.

Feel free to forward this invitation to anyone who's interested in learning more about enrollment efforts during the open enrollment period from November 15 to February 15.”

"Anyone" who's interested in learning more? Not, the press, apparently.

The email, sent by the White House Office of public management includes a form where interested parties can sign up to participate in the conference call.

Interestingly, according to the registration form, the official title of the call is “Youth Call on the Affordable Care Act.”

Of course it is unclear how the call will specifically be directed at young people whose participation in Obamacare is essential for the law to succeed.

However, since the press is barred from reporting on the conversation, all we can do is speculate at this point.

But, given the uproar caused by the newly-discovered candid remarks by Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber about the "stupidity" of the American people buying into the healthcare law, one can see why they might want to keep the media from reporting on any off-the-cuff claims the First Lady might make.
