Over the weekend, headlines around the country mocked Republicans for allegedly wanting to bomb Agrabah, a fictional kingdom from the Disney movie “Aladdin.” But a further inspection of the data reveals there is more to the picture.

The Public Policy Polling found 30 percent of the 532 Republican primary voters polled support bombing Agrabah, while 13 percent responded that they oppose the bombing. The majority (57 percent) were “not sure” about whether the fictional country should be bombed.

However, the poll also shows Republicans who identify as liberal are more likely to support bombing Agrabah than Republicans who identify as conservative.

The poll found only 31 percent of Republicans who are “very conservative” and 25 percent of Republicans who are “somewhat conservative” favor bombing Agrabah.

Of those who viewed themselves as moderates, 35 percent support bombing Agrabah.

The Republicans who identify as “somewhat liberal” were most likely to support bombing Agrabah. The poll shows 50 percent of Republicans who are “somewhat liberal” support bombing Agrabah. At the same time, 24 percent of those who are “very liberal” support bombing the non-existent country.

While a majority of those who identify themselves as conservative support bombing Agrabah (56 percent in total), 74 percent of Republicans who identified themselves as liberal support bombing Agrabah.

The poll shows “liberal” Republicans are 18 percent more likely to support bombing Agrabah than “conservative” Republicans.
