POLL: Majority of Americans Say Freedom of Speech is Dead as Christmas Faces Political Correctness Brigade

According to a new Rasmussen poll, a majority of Americans (68%) believe true freedom of speech no longer exists.

The data shows that just over a quarter of Americans “believe they have true freedom of speech today,” meanwhile the vast majority of respondents say the opposite and six percent poll undecided.

Even more, 80 percent of Americans agree that “giving people the right to free speech is more important than making sure no one is offended by what others say, down slightly from 85% in 2017 but generally in line with previous surveys,” Rasmussen reports.

The poll results come as classic Christmas songs, shows, and traditions are under attack by the Left and its political correctness crusade.

Just over the past couple weeks, a Nebraska elementary school principal tried to ban everything Christmas – even candy canes because they’re shaped as the letter “J” for “Jesus” – because not everyone is Christian, radio stations banned the classic Christmas music song “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” because of its “racy” lyrics and undertones, the classic Christmas special “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” came under fire for supposedly encouraging bullying, and a town in New Hampshire debated on whether to end their Christmas tree lighting tradition to avoid criticism for not being inclusive enough of other religions.

Things are getting out of hand. Can't say it's surprising, though.

The Rasmussen poll of 1,000 American adults was conducted Dec. 6-8 and has a margin sampling error of three percentage points.
