Poll: Less than One Third of Women Say They’re Feminists

Sorry, Emma Watson, but less than one-third of American women call themselves feminists.

Despite the feminist slogans and talking points that insist feminism is merely the belief that women are people, a recent YouGov poll found that only 32 percent of American women consider themselves feminists.

Instead, the poll shows a plurality of women (45 percent) do not consider themselves feminists.

Of the female respondents who stated they do not identify themselves as feminists, 47 percent said the reason they are not feminists is because feminists are “too extreme.”

At the same time, 15 percent of non-feminist women said they are not feminists because they “do not believe men and women are equal.”

The poll found seven percent of women who are not feminists think feminists are “anti-men.”

The YouGov poll surveyed 1,000 American adults between Jan. 19-22. The poll was conducted through Web-based interviews with a margin of error of 4.1 percent (adjusted for weighting).
