A recent poll found 76 percent of Americans believe it is “likely” that there will be a terrorist attack against the United States in the next 12 months.

YouGov asked 1,000 Americans between Nov. 16-18 their views on issues related to the Syrian refugee situation and terrorism.

The poll found that 41 percent of respondents believe it is “very likely (more than 50%)” and 35 percent believe it is “somewhat likely (10% to 50%)” that a terrorist attack will hit America within the next 12 months.

The belief in a “likely” terrorist attack is held across the political spectrum: 72 percent of Democrats, 72 percent of Independents, and 86 percent of Republicans all believe it is either “very likely” or “somewhat likely” that America will be subject to a terrorist attack in the next year.

Only four percent of Americans responded it is “very unlikely (less than 1%)” that America will be faced with a terrorist attack. The poll showed 12 percent believe it is “not very likely (1% to 10%)” there will be a terrorist attack.
