President Trump on Wednesday blasted the NFL for getting “massive tax breaks” from the federal government while its players are "disrespecting our Anthem, Flag and Country" by kneeling during, or not even showing up on the field for, the National Anthem.

A new Rasmussen poll shows that most Americans (67%) oppose tax breaks for the professional football league.

Only 18% support giving tax breaks to NFL teams and 15% poll unsure.

The NFL receives major tax breaks for the construction of its teams’ sports stadiums.

Trump and Republicans in Congress have threatened to change the tax law that allows such breaks in order to punish the league for the Anthem protests.

Americans poll divided on the issue of team owners forcing their players to stand for the National Anthem, with 48% who believe owners have the right to do so and 43% who disagree.

Nine percent (9%) remain undecided.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Sunday that any Cowboys player who protests during the Anthem will be benched for the game.

NFL owners are reportedly meeting next week to decide whether it is within a team's rights to force its players to stand for the Anthem.

Tennessee Titans receiver Rishard Matthews on Thursday threatened to quit if the NFL passes a rule forcing players to stand for the National Anthem, MRCTV reported.

The poll results come amid fierce debate and fan upset over the protests.

The Rasmussen survey of 1,000 likely voters was conducted on Oct. 10-11 and has a margin sampling error of 3 percentage points.
