P.C. GONE MAD! X-Men Ad Pulled When Actress Said It Promoted Violence Against Women

Jeffdunetz | June 6, 2016

Violence against women is a national issue, a terrible crime and should never be condoned.

On the other hand, violence against blue female mutant comic book characters, especially when conducted by another mutant thought to be an Egyptian God, should not become a national issue.

The billboard above advertised the movie X-Men Apocalypse, and shows the character Mystique, played by Jennifer Lawrence, being choked by the bad guy named Apocalypse, played by Oscar Isaac. To some, this advertisement is representation of violence against (blue, mutant) women.

The objections to the billboard were expressed publicly, and most vehemently, by Actress Rose McGowan

The fact that no one flagged this is offensive and frankly, stupid. The geniuses behind this, and I use that term lightly, need to to take a long hard look at the mirror and see how they are contributing to society. Imagine if it were a black man being strangled by a white man, or a gay male being strangled by a hetero? The outcry would be enormous. So let’s right this wrong. 20th Century Fox, since you can’t manage to put any women directors on your slate for the next two years, how about you at least replace your ad?"

She continued: "I’ll close with a text my friend sent, a conversation with his daughter. It follows: ‘My daughter and I were just having a deep discussion on the brutality of that hideous X-Men poster yesterday. Her words: 'Dad, why is that monster man committing violence against a woman?' This from a 9-year-old. If she can see it, why can’t Fox?"

Perhaps, she (the 9-year-old) can see it because she has been raised in the liberal "politically correct" culture that continues to infect American society. This is not a picture of a "man" choking a "woman," it's a picture of 3,000-year-old mutant who is seen as a God choking the person who (in this battle) is the leader of the X-Men.

Oh, and BTW, here's something that Ms. McGowan hasn't figured out as of yet: it's not real!  It's a movie based on comic books, like Superman and Popeye were.  One has to wonder if she thinks Popeye really exists.

Unless I missed something that has happened in the past few minutes, there are not now, nor have there ever been, blue mutants fighting even stronger mutants who have a God complex anywhere on Earth.

McGowan should be celebrating this movie as it is one of the rare cases where the team of "good guys" is led by a woman. If Rosie wants to complain about the X-Men advertisement, why didn't she complain about the ad below which depicts a woman being stalked and eventually kidnapped?

Or how about this movie advertisement, which clearly shows a woman violently killed. By the way, not only did Rose McGowan fail to speak out against this advertisement - but she also appeared in the movie.

Making matters worse, unlike the "X-Men" and "King Kong" movie ads, the "Black Dahlia" ad depicts normal humans - no mutants or giant apes, just people hovering over a real violently killed woman. It is depicting a case of a real woman killed by real violence.

In the case of "X-Men Apocalypse," even though they did nothing wrong, as soon as Rose McGowan's charge made its way into social media, 20th Century Fox apologized and took the ads down.

After all, that is the way of corporate America when they are attacked by the P.C. police.
