While attending a private dinner earlier this year, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) reportedly admitted that the chances of President Trump's promised border wall actually getting built are very slim, according to one of Ryan's fellow GOP congressmen.
Breitbart broke the story, citing a conversation with Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) who claims that Ryan said only "one member" of the House GOP who wanted to build the wall.
Tancredo told Breitbart, "Of course he means only one person in his entourage and of the leadership."
"I know several people in Congress who want a wall and I know that there are millions of Americans who want a wall," he said, adding, "You have to understand the level of fear that exists in the Republican establishment about this issue."
"The Chamber of Commerce doesn't want a wall...the pressure is greater from the Chamber of Commerce than it is from the members," Tancredo said.
Breitbart also reported that another source claiming to be a current House GOP member confirmed that the House Speaker had made a similar remark, but the source remains unnamed.
The report also added that Ryan's office neither confirmed nor denied the alleged comments. However, it's worth noting that Ryan has shown public support for the border wall as recently as early August.
