A Paramedic Saves the Doctor's Life Who Saved His Own 30 Years Before

Dr. Michael Shannon was trapped under a burning SUV four years ago when  paramedic firefighter Chris Trokey helped get him out with the Jaws of Life.

Firefighters from Paramedic Engine 29 were returning to the station from another call and were able to repond to Dr. Shannon’s inflamed vehicle within minutes.

Dr. Shannon’s legs were burned and eventually needed two toes amputated at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, but he is alive and well today.

Chris Trokey’s own life was saved by Dr. Shannon thirty years previous when he was born premature at only 3.2 pounds. The man who he pulled out of the car stayed with (baby) Chris around the clock until his health was stable.

“I didn’t know about until I went to the hospital and started talking about it, Dr. Shannon. And I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, Dr. Shannon?'” Trokey recalled on Sunday. “That’s when I found out," reports KTLA.

Dr. Shannon said, “It’s amazing to watch them all grow up, but to have one come back in your life, on a day you really need it, that’s really incredible."

The two of them recently attended a cancer fundraiser where Trokey revealed Dr. Shannon is now his son’s pediatrician.
