Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the Pennsylvania state Capitol in Harrisburg on Monday to demand that Gov. Tom Wolf reopen Pennsylvania's economy.

WGAL-TV is reporting that protestors are calling on the governor and state lawmakers to safely reopen Pennsylvania by May 1.

LancasterOnline is reporting than hundreds gathered in front of the Capitol while other protestors drove around the building blaring their horns.

Meanwhile, both chambers of the Republican-controlled Legislature were planning to return to session as Republicans push legislation that would take away some of Wolf's power to determine which businesses must remain closed during the coronavirus pandemic. Wolf, a Democrat, has said he will veto one bill sent to him last week and another that is expected to win House passage as early as Monday.

While the protestors active outside, Gov. Wolf held a conference announcing some steps toward reopening businesses.

Curbside state liquor store order pick-ups, online vehicle sales and construction will resume statewide on May 8th.

“There is still a statewide stay-at-home order. And that is going to last until May 8th,” Wolf said.
