One would be mistaken to view the vast, desolate landscape of crushed freedoms left in the wake of government’s eternal march and imagine that there might not be any more freedoms their jackboots can crush.

Politicians and bureaucrats are very creative when it comes to new ways to attack our rights.

Hence, we see this headline, from Reuters:

“US halts exports of most civilian firearms for 90 days”

And, by that, Reuters means the U.S. government “halts” the actions of civilians. In other words, while Biden and most of the House and Senate plan to send vast arrays of additional weapons to places like Ukraine and Israel, completely contrary to their rulebook, the U.S. Constitution, the Bidenistas also are going to use government guns to threaten civilians from engaging in market commerce to sell weapons, themselves.

Makes total sense. And it’s so… moral. So… flagrantly…constitutional.

If you detect sarcasm, you’re right. Sarcasm can be a fuel to energize freedom-backers in this ongoing fight.

But no level of sarcasm, no level of written or spoken pushback against this ever could suffice to paint a complete picture of just how foul this flippant move truly is. And it certainly isn’t stopping the perverse political monsters. Reuters offers:

“The U.S. has stopped issuing export licenses for most civilian firearms and ammunition for 90 days for all non-governmental users, the Commerce Department said on Friday, citing national security and foreign policy interests.”

Well, it sure is good that they “cited national security and foreign policy interests” for their so-called rationale to engage in aggressive threats against civilians who would like to engage in market trade. It sure is delightful to see that they can offer such a loaded lingua to circumvent the Constitution.

“The Commerce Department did not provide further details for the pause, which also includes shotguns and optical sights, but said an urgent review will assess the ‘risk of firearms being diverted to entities or activities that promote regional instability, violate human rights, or fuel criminal activities.’"

And don’t get too concerned. It’s just a “pause,” meaning – they will define the length of time they will prohibit this right to engage in trade, and the word “pause” will be up to them to stretch like Silly Putty.

“The Commerce Department declined to comment beyond the posting on its website.”

Why bother commenting? They will wait until firearms sellers have to expend their own money to go to court.

As noted above, the U.S. Constitution (which is imposed on everyone, without our consent, unless we are political office holders, or work for government in an official or military/police capacity) does not “grant” the feds the power to block person-to-person trade. It has power only to set rules for “Nation-to-Nation” and “State-to-State” trade, and by looking at the pertinent clause, one can see that those terms are capitalized. Article One, Section Eight, of the Constitution reads, in part, that the Congress has the “power” (where they get it is anyone’s guess, but that’s a deeper philosophical question about the so-called “authority” of the Constitution in the first place):

“To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes…”

As James Madison notes, each of those is an official term, meaning Nations as corporate entities, not a normative, societal term applying to individual people. But why should the current crop of politicians care about linguistics and lexicography, etymology, or individual rights?

They seem to care more about running guns the way THEY want to.

Reuters adds:

“Export licences for Ukraine and Israel, as well as some other close allies, will be exempted from the temporary halt in exports.”

How sweet. How magnanimous. Rather than allowing individual liberty, the politicians force us to pay for their military plans and priorities. They force pacifists, Jews, Palestinian Americans, Russian Americans, Ukrainian Americans, and myriad others, to shell out cash that will help create weapons which will go where the politicians want them to go, implicating everyone in the actions, regardless of where those American civilians might stand on an issue.

The hypocrisy is clear. The freedom, crushed. The “one size straight-jacket fits all” activity, ongoing…
