Officials say over 2000 fetal remains were discovered in the home of a doctor who used to perform abortions in South Bend, Indiana until his license was suspended in 2015.

Dr. Ulrich Klopfer, had his medical license suspended in 2015 on charges relating to failing to exercise reasonable care and violating several notice and documentation requirements. WGN-TV reports, Klopfer admitted performing abortions on minors as young as ten years old.

Klopfer passed away in early September.  His family contacted authorities after the discovery of 2,246 preserved fetal remains on his property.

Klopfer used to practice at the Women's Pavilion in South Bend. The clinic closed shortly after Klopfer lost his medical license.

Authorities are investigating the discovery. Mayor Pete Buttigieg's administration did not respond to WNDU-TV's requests for comment
