To the dismay of many lefties believing the only way to challenge Donald Trump for the presidency in 2020 is to run another celebrity, Oprah Winfrey is claiming she will not be running for that or any other public office.

In a podcast interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Winfrey claimed that she has no interest in running for public office. During the interview, Winfrey was asked if she believed she could defeat Donald Trump in a race in 2020, responding that she'll never know, considering public office isn’t for her.

Since the Interview, several media outlets have released articles lamenting in Winfrey’s decision. SFGATE posted an article titled “Aww! Gayle King says BFF Oprah Winfrey Won’t Run For President!” while ELLE posted a piece entitled “There’s No Hope, Oprah Winfrey Will Never Run For President”.

SOCIALITE LIFE also had some words saying in an article “Sorry world, Oprah is not going to be running for president. Ever.” while an InStyle piece said “However, we will have to put those grand visions to rest,” talking about her potential run not panning out. The article also asked, "Maybe there’s still a chance for Kanye West 2020?” making me really consider that some Americans are losing their minds.

Let me just get something off my chest. Celebrities are not the answer to our nation’s issues and believing that Oprah, Kanye West or whatever celebrity the Dems decide to run is going to fix things is gravely naive. These people are not keen on policy issues, and they don't have the diplomatic fervor to handle to tricky global situations.

The year 2020 should be a year for policy wonks who want to get the job done, not stars who think they'll give it a whirl just because Trump did. I, for one, will be voting for a candidate based on their experience and vision, not because I like their show or their music.

Whether the Dems get it together or not, let's agree that Oprah Winfrey, as nice as she may be, shouldn't be the President of the United States.
