Oprah Says She Talks With God, So Will Joy Behar Call Her Crazy?

It’s been a solid two weeks, and ABC’s The View hostess Joy Behar has yet to call out Oprah Winfrey for being a total looney tune by talking to God.

After all, Behar seems to think that only crazy people do that.

Here’s Oprah telling People Magazine this week that the only way she’d ever run for president is if she got a clear message from God:

Amid calls for her to consider a run for the White House — from fans as well as her closest friends — “I went into prayer,” she tells PEOPLE in the magazine’s new cover story. “ ‘God, if you think I’m supposed to run, you gotta tell me, and it has to be so clear that not even I can miss it.’ And I haven’t gotten that.”

And, in case you missed it, Oprah said the same exact thing in a 60 Minutes interview two weeks ago.

According to Behar, this is a clear sign that Oprah is a schizophrenic in need of immediate psychological assistance – or at least it would be, if Behar were ideologically consistent. Because while it appears to be totally O.K. for Oprah Winfrey to talk to God, when Vice President Mike Pence does it, it’s a “mental illness.”

Behar, perhaps best known for talking a lot without actually saying anything, openly dubbed Pence’s Christian faith a “mental illness” on February 13's episode of The View. Why?

Because he talks with God.

“Like I said before, it's one thing to talk to Jesus. It's another thing when Jesus talks to you,” Behar warned. “That's called mental illness, if I'm not correct. Hearing voices.”

In the same segment, fellow The View hostess Sunny Hostin, who claims she’s Catholic, called Pence’s faith “dangerous.”

“When you have a Mike Pence who now puts this religious veneer on things and who calls people values voters, I think we're this a dangerous situation. Look I'm Catholic. I'm a faithful person, but I don’t know that I want my vice president, um -- speaking in tongues and having Jesus speak to him,” she said.

Behar and Hostin have yet to say a single word condemning Oprah’s faith, despite openly mocking Pence for his. And we aren’t holding our breath.

So let’s just make sure we’re clear on the rules, here: if you’re a Republican vice president who openly professes your Christian faith and prays to God, you’re a nutjob who should be carted off to the Funny Farm for your own good and that of the general public.

But if you’re the left’s favorite liberal slay kween whose presidency would usher in a new era of Social Enlightenment, you can have teatime with Jesus whenever you want and it’s completely kosher.

If the left didn’t have double standards, they’d have no standards at all.
