Do you like candles? Do you like former vice president Joe Biden? Have you ever thought of combining the two? And is “creepy” something you can smell?
For the answers to all of those questions, and possibly other disturbing questions, there’s a new product line for you! A store on the shopping website Etsy is selling scented candles that are labeled as “funny” gifts, with most of the candles listed representing different politicians through time.
From Biden to Aaron Burr to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to President Trump, there seems to be a candle for every political occasion.
However, the Trump scented candle is listed as the “Anti-Trump Trump-Scented Candle.” The candle has combed-over blonde hair on the lid, is orange and doesn’t claim to smell good.
Here’s the description of the Trump candle:

Now, I understand funny. There are parts of that description that could produce a chuckle or two. But, it’s obviously made in a mocking way. The Trump candle is the only candle listed on the site with “anti” in front of it. Even the Vladimir Putin candle doesn’t have “anti” in front of it.
Heck, there’s even a “Obama-Biden Nostalgia Pack.” It’s a joke, but that item is for real.
These are gag gifts and nothing more, and their "message" is pretty benign compared to the typical rhetoric we hear from places like CNN.
The descriptions probably represent the candlemaker’s personal political leanings, but it’s not like these candles are going to influence anyone’s personal political decisions. If they do, than that person has way bigger problems than a candle making them feel something.
