Olympic Gymnast Aly Raisman Says She Was Also Abused By the Team's Doctor

Six-time Olympic medalist and two-time national team captain Aly Raisman is now alleging that the USA Gymnastics' team doctor Larry Nassar sexually abused her.

During an interview with 60 Minutes that will air this Sunday, Raisman claimed that she spoke with FBI investigators after serving as the national team captain at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Raisman is one of more than 140 women, including her former teammate McKayla Maroney, who say Nassar sexually abused them.

Raisman said she offered her support to Maroney after her teammate asserted several weeks ago that Nassar had molested her. Nassar has already pleaded guilty to child pornography charges, but is maintaining his innocence against more than 140 accusations of sexual assault by several female athletes.

Now that Raisman is backing up Maroney's account with claims of her own, it sounds like this Sunday's aired interview will be a bombshell for the USA Gymnastics team.

"Why are we looking at why didn't the girls speak up? Why not look at what about the culture? What did USA Gymnastics do, and Larry Nassar do, to manipulate these girls so much that they are so afraid to speak up?" Raisman challenged, according to a preview of the tape.

In what appears to be the start of some damage control, USA Gymnastics sent a statement over to 60 Minutes claiming that the organization has made big changes since the allegations on Nassar broke, saying they've adopted a "safe sport policy" that requires "mandatory reporting" of any suspicious activity, along with new standards that "prevent inappropriate interaction" between athletes and adults.

USA Gymnastics also apologized to Nassar's alleged victims, saying, "USA Gymnastics is very sorry that any athlete has been harmed."

"We want to work with Aly and all interested athletes to keep athletes safe," team officials added.
