It’s not this owner of a pizza place in Ohio’s fault that a growing portion of the population are…well, less than intelligent. People in the general vicinity are proving the owner correct by the hour.

Columbus, Ohio restaurant Santino’s Pizzeria has received both praise and scorn for their recent hiring campaign in which they placed a sign out front that reads, “NOW HIRING/NON-STUPID PEOPLE.”

While “NON-STUPID” might not have been the best choice of words to classify the perpetually dumb, it did get the point across that if the establishment is going to pay a “living wage,” the person receiving it should be worthy to do so.

As much as people would like to make it about them and be ecstatic or upset over it, the owner’s daughter said it was done as more of a joke than anything else.

“It's more humor than anything,” Jayden Dunigan said, according to Fox News. “It wasn't meant to target anyone like that or be rude.”

And if someone felt like they were targeted to the point they were upset, or a legitimately stupid person phone in to place a $100 order and not pick it up — which did happen — then they’re proving their point in weeding out the dumb.

However, there’s some truth to the sign, Dunigan said.

“A lot of people we've hired just don't want to work," she said. "There is no work ethic behind them, so that’s the meaning behind the ‘non-stupid.’”

Just remember, if you’re offended by their sign, you’re probably a dumbass.
