Obama Blames Terrorism on 'Older People' Who Are 'Boring,' 'Not Connecting' with Youth

Pres. Obama blamed “boring” “older people” for the rise of terrorism among young people in a speech today discussing the tactics used by terror groups to indoctrinate young Muslims.

While terrorists are adept at using the latest technology “in the hopes of reaching and brainwashing young Muslims,” older people are “often boring” – so, they can’t connect with vulnerable youth, Obama said at an anti-extremism summit:

“The high-quality videos, the online magazines, the use of social media, the terrorists’ Twitter accounts – it’s all designed to target today’s young people online, in cyberspace.

“And, by the way, the older people here, as wise and as respected as you may be: your stuff is often boring. Compared to what they’re doing. You’re not connected. And, as a consequence, you are not connecting.”

Thus, Obama concluded, it is the responsibility of “communities” to prevent youth from being seduced by terrorist groups:

“So, these terrorists are a threat, first and foremost, to the communities that they target, which means that communities have to take the lead in protecting themselves. And that is true here in America, as it is true anywhere else.”
