What happened to "open arms"?

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is warning President Trump not to send illegal immigrants to his so-called sanctuary city, calling the proposal “just plain illegal” and vowing to “meet him in court.”

According to the New York Post, de Blasio said on Spectrum News NY1 that he plans to “beat [Trump] in court” if his plan to relocate detained illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities moves forward.

“It’s illegal. It is just plain illegal,” said de Blasio. “We will meet him in court. We will beat him in court.”

“I remember vividly the day the Trump administration, when he said he was going to cut our security funding because we did not ask for documentation status, because we would not cooperate with everything ICE was doing,” he continued. “We said we would go to court to stop it and we did.”

Donald Trump Jr. took to Twitter to spotlight de Blasio for the liberal hypocrisy, also referencing a recent tweet by Cher calling on "sanctuary state" California not to accept illegal immigrants when the state "can't take care of its own."

De Blasio made the statement Monday night after Trump declared on Twitter that illegal immigrants that “can no longer be legally held … will be, subject to Homeland Security, given to Sanctuary Cities and States." No formal plan of action has since been announced, however.

The White House on Sunday said that while cooperation with Democratic lawmakers on Capitol Hill to address the crisis on the border was preferable, the plan to send illegals to sanctuary cities was certainly being considered by the Trump administration as an option.
