A new government-led study into Germany’s refugee crisis found that the nation’s influx of Middle Eastern migrants has led to a dramatic rise in crime against native Germans. And to those who just read that sentence and thought, “Yeah, well, duh,” congratulations! You have at least half a brain.
See, the shocker here isn’t the study’s findings. It’s the fact that anyone thought bringing in a wave of foreign, unassimilated migrants -- mostly of the male persuasion, by the way -- into a country with a radically different culture and a whole bunch of vulnerable young women was ever a good idea to begin with.
We’re looking at you, Angela Merkel.
The study used figures from the northern state of Lower Saxony to examine the impact of refugee arrivals on crime in 2015 and 2016, a period when the number of violent crimes reported increased by 10.4 percent.
The authors concluded that 92 percent of the additional crimes recorded could be attributed to the increase in refugee numbers.
The study also found that the number of solved violent crimes attributed to Germany’s asylum seekers skyrocketed from 4.3 percent to 13.3 percent between 2014 and 2016.
Researchers found that the rise in crime was directly linked to the fact that most of the refugees coming into Germany are males (about 27 percent were guys between the ages of 14 and 30) who grew up in a heavily male-dominated culture that apparently doesn’t really care if you, say, rape random women at a party on New Years Eve.
The study, led by prominent criminologist Christian Pfeiffer and published by the Zurich University of Applied Sciences, says most of the refugees came to Germany from Muslim countries that are "characterized by male dominance" and an acceptance of a "macho culture" that can justify violence.
If only someone had predicted this might happen.
Even more remarkable are the victim statistics. The study found that more than 90 percent of murders and about 75 percent of assaults committed by refugees were against other migrants. Conversely, about 70 percent of robberies were against natives. German women were victims of 58.6 percent of rape and sexual assault crimes by refugees.
But unless you’re a normal person with feelings and a sense of decency, Bloomberg’s justification for the rise in rape crimes against native German women might make sense to you:
As for the sex crimes, it's disturbing to think that it reflects behavior that would go unpunished, or is even encouraged, at home; it's certainly the case that the refugees are often uncertain how to behave with local women -- and many of them didn't bring their own.
Yep. That must be it. Displaced Syrians are raping women in the back alleys of Lower Saxony at astoundingly higher rates because they're "uncertain how to behave." Kind of like a new puppy who pees on your grandma's antique Persian rug because he just doesn't know any better yet. Same, same. Thanks, Bloomberg.
The study’s findings come after news broke that the number of refugees admitted to the United States dropped by 70 percent under the first 11 months of the Trump administration. Christians comprise the bulk of those who have been let in, a marked change from the latter Muslim-dominated Obama years. This is a problem for the political Left, of course, who consistently slam Trump’s refusal to admit hoards of refugees from terrorism-plagued countries while simultaneously ignoring Germany’s current crime crisis.
Then again, it’s easy to complain about your hometown’s lack of refugees when you aren’t lying facedown in a gutter.
