Unfortunately, when the temperature wamrs up in Chicago so do the number of shooting victims. It's almost like clockwork over the years, the only difference is that the winter doesn't deter shootings like it used to do. Still, regardless of the weather, no one besides those in the Chicago Police Department (CPD) attempting to fight crime while being hamstrung by the city's politicians cares.

This weekend saw a clear jump in shootings victims across the Chicagoland area as at least four people were killed and at least another 35 were wounded. This beats the previous weekend's numbers, which saw at least two killed and another 20 wounded.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, 15 of the weekend's shooting victims came from a single incident during a party that saw two people killed and another 13 wounded early Sunday morning.

Here are the names of those who were shot and killed over the weekend:

Rayneesha Dotson, 30

Lionel Darling, 39

Gino Collins, 54

Susana Rodriguez, 47

As for the year-to-date totals for Chicago weekend shootings, 49 people have been murdered and another 232 have been wounded in Chicago in 2021. The Chicago Tribune, who keeps a tracker of all shooting victims in Chicago, still hasn’t updated their overall numbers from a couple of weeks ago. The outlet is still reporting that — as of February 26 — 388 people have been shot this year. That number is 62 more than at the same point in 2020, which saw the second most shooting victims in the last 10 years of tracking data.

What is it going to take for Chicago politicians to do anything about what's going on in their city? How many people have to die for them to take serious notice? It's simply not getting any better, folks.
