Not Enough: CNN to be Sued for At Least $250 Mil. for Attack on Covington Student

Much like other “news outlets,” CNN should be taken for everything they’re worth after the smear campaign carried out on Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann back in January. They, along with many others, attempted to ruin this kid’s life, and now they should be taken to account.

The attorney for Sandmann, L. Lin Wood, spoke to Fox News’ and conservative commentator Mark Levin on Sunday and told the “Life, Liberty & Levin” host that he will be filing a lawsuit of at least $250 million against CNN, similar to the lawsuit he filed on behalf of Sandmann against the Washington Post in February.

“They really went after Nicholas with the idea that he was part of a mob that was attacking the Black Hebrew Israelites, yelling racist slurs at the Black Hebrew Israelites,” Wood said. “Totally false.”

Absolutely false! If any of these media organizations had any integrity, they would’ve taken the time to check out the entire video of the altercation which was available at the same time the short, “media-friendly” version of the video was out. But they didn’t. They chose to run with a story that they knew they didn’t verify all in an effort to get clicks and boost ad revenue. They’re bloodsuckers with recognizable names. They took their pound of flesh and didn’t care that it belonged to an innocent child. They had to have their narrative, and a lot of people bought it too.

Not only that, but the media ran with the supposed victimhood angle of the lying, opportunist Native American activist Nathan Phillips and how he was just trying to deescalate the situation.

But above all else, no one on the left - and I mean no one - put the onus of the whole situation on the racist Black Hebrew Israelites hate group. These wastes of space said some of the most vile crap I've ever heard someone say to children in a public square. I'm not going to repeat them here, but let's just say that the Black Hebrew Israelites are a creation of their own inner-hate. They are the ultimate victims, in their own minds, to the point that they actually believe their own BS. They promote hate and nothing else, and I for one will not give them a pass.

Wood also told Levin, according to Fox News:

The CNN folks were online on Twitter at 7 a.m retweeting the little one-minute propaganda piece that had been put out. … They're out there right away going after this young boy. And they maintain it for at least two days. Why didn't they stop and just take an hour and look through the Internet and find the truth and then report it? Maybe do that before you report the lies.

Why didn’t they stop? They didn’t stop because they had a narrative to push, all of them. Even the people who apologized only after they were proven to be fools are just as complicit in the persecution of Sandmann. Some of the media may have apologized, but they wanted the narrative to be true, too. There’s money to be made in controversy, and news outlets are nothing more than businesses preying on people’s humanity and inhumanity towards others.

“I've got some young, smart lawyers that are working hard as we can," Wood also told Levin. "Double-checking, and listen, when we file complaints, we've investigated it because we want to get it right. Maybe CNN can learn from that.”

CNN, much like the majority of news outlets, will never learn — at least the way they’re currently constructed. The sad part is that they seem disinterested in learning and making their news better. As long as they can attack someone or thing in every segment, that puts smiles on executives faces.

There could be more lawsuits to come if the list of people and outlets that Wood and fellow attorney Todd McMurtry sent letters to in early February telling recipients not to “destroy any documents in connection with the case” are any indication.

I don’t think Wood and his client are asking for enough. Media outlets attempted to take away any earning potential Sandmann had for the rest of his life all in an effort to show the Trump supporters are racist. At the very least, lengthy public apologies by CEOs and the employees who carried out the hit job against Sandmann should be required.

If there was ever a case in which I support asking for an unreasonable amount of money, it’s this one. I don’t think there actually is an unreasonable amount that Sandmann’s lawyers could’ve come up with.
