Oh, poor Nancy. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) apparently attempted to honor baseball Hall of Famer Willie Mays by wishing him a happy birthday in a Twitter post last Thursday. Unfortunately for Pelosi, she posted a picture of the wrong San Francisco Giants legend.
In a now-deleted tweet, Pelosi wished Mays a happy birthday by posting a picture of Willie McCovey.
Here's a screenshot of the deleted tweet with McCovey pictured:
Now here's the reposted tweet with the correct "Willie" pictured, Willie Mays:
Mays sure does look happy in that picture, doesn't he?
Okay, to be fair, both Mays and McCovey played during the same time period, both for the Giants and both are legends. Granted, only Mays is still alive. McCovey died in 2018.
But one thing is for sure, Pelosi - or the people who tweet for her - should recognize that not all black people look alike.
