Facebook announced this weekend it will ban ads for weapon accessories including gun safes and holsters – until after the inauguration.

According to the Facebook announcement:

We are banning ads that promote weapon accessories and protective equipment in the US at least through January 22, out of an abundance of caution. We already prohibit ads for weapons, ammunition and weapon enhancements like silencers. But we will now also prohibit ads for accessories such as gun safes, vests and gun holsters in the US.

Facebook may extend the ban after Jan. 22, despite the social media giant’s indications that the world may be ready for gun safe ads again after Joe Biden is sworn into office.

The moves follows Facebook’s announcement that it would remove all content that contained the phrase “stop the steal.”

“Our teams are working 24/7 to enforce our policies around the inauguration,” Facebook says.
