When conservatives make a social justice blunder, they get canceled. But when leftists make the same mistakes, they’re treated with mercy.
According to NBC, recently appointed Teen Vogue editor Alexi McCammond apologized for racist and homophobic tweets that she had posted in 2011, including one post in which she said she was "now googling how to not wake up with swollen, asian eyes."
The tweets were revealed via an Instagram post by Diana Tsui, editorial director at the Infatuation, who posted screenshots of the tweets following McCammond's hiring last week.
McCammond quickly apologized, saying that she was ashamed of her past actions.
"You've seen some offensive, idiotic tweets from when I was a teenager that perpetuated harmful and racist stereotypes about Asian Americans," she wrote in her apology email to the Vogue’s staff. "I apologize deeply to all of you for the pain this has caused."
She also wrote that there was "no excuse for language like that."
In a letter, over 20 staff members questioned the wisdom in hiring an editor who flouted the ideals of "inclusion" that Teen Vogue supposedly upholds. But Condé Nast, the company who owns Teen Vogue, said they believe that McCammond’s record of defending the marginalized outweighed her past indiscretions.

“Throughout her career she has dedicated herself to being a champion for marginalized voices,” they told NBC. “Two years ago she took responsibility for her social media history and apologized.”
That’s generous of Condé Nast, right?
Wrong.
Look at what happened to Gina Carano. Last month, the actress was fired by Lucasfilm and its parent company, Disney, for drawing similarities between today’s cancel culture and Nazi Germany’s treatment of the Jews.
And what about Chris Harrison? The host of ABC’s The Bachelor was slammed for failing to condemn a contestant on the show who attended an antebellum themed party. He was so badly hammered by leftist social justice warriors that in the end, he meekly agreed to work with a race educator to change his errant ways.
Why hasn’t McCammond been fired, or assigned a "race educator" herself? She committed the same "mistakes" as Carano and Harrison. And considering that she actually made what the left defined to be racist statements, McCammond deserved a race educator more than Harrison did.
For the sake of being fair, she should receive the same treatment given to others who've been "cancelled" for far less.
But of course she won’t. Leftists look out for each other when they make social justice blunders. But when a conservative commits a slighter offense, they get ripped apart.
So much for social “justice.”
