U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley ripped Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Monday, calling him a “monster” with “no conscience” following the deadly chemical attack on Syrian civilians over the weekend.

"Who does this? Only a monster does this,” said Haley during a U.N. Security Council meeting. “Only a monster targets civilians and then ensures that there are no ambulances to transfer the wounded. No hospitals … no doctors or medicine to ease their pain.”

“The monster who was responsible for these attacks has no conscience," she added. “Not even to be shocked by pictures of dead children.”

Haley also slammed Russia and Iran for “enabling the Assad regime's murderous destruction.”

"The Russian regime, whose hands are all covered in the blood of Syrian children, cannot be ashamed by pictures of its victims," she said. “We’ve tried that before.”

"We must not overlook Russia and Iran's roles in enabling the Assad regime's murderous destruction," she continued.

At least 40 Syrian civilians were killed on Saturday after an attack on the rebel-held Syrian city of Douma near Damascus.

Heart-wrenching images circulated social media over the weekend of women and children foaming from the mouth and nose.

It has been claimed that the nerve agent sarin was used in the attack and that a hospital was targeted.

The Assad regime has denied responsibility.

Russia has denied any chemical weapons attack at all and warned the U.S. that any “military intervention under false pretexts in Syria may trigger the gravest consequences.”

President Trump in a series of tweets on Sunday condemned the “mindless” attack as well as Russia and Iran for “backing Animal Assad.”

Tensions continue to flare as the U.S. has not yet ruled out military action against Syria.
