Golf legend Jack Nicklaus thinks that the PGA’s 2021 decision to remove the this week's PGA championship from Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey was another example of cancel culture wreaking unnecessary havoc.

The PGA announced that they would move the location of the event from Bedminster to Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma, just four days after the January 6, 2021 “insurrection.”

“We find ourselves in a political situation, not of our making,” Seth Waugh, CEO of the PGA of America, said in 2021. “We’re fiduciaries for our members, for the game, for our mission, and for our brand. And how do we best protect that? Our feeling was given the tragic events of Wednesday we could no longer hold it at Bedminster. The damage could have been irreparable.”

That seems a little dramatic. Apparently, Nicklaus thought so too.

“This move is cancel culture,” Nicklaus told The Firepit Collective. “Donald Trump may be a lot of things, but he loves golf and he loves this country. He’s a student of the game and a formidable figure in the game.”

The PGA isn’t going back on their decision to move, so there’s no use trying to change that. But there’s another unfortunate consequence to add to the change in courses: alcohol prices will be astronomical.

According to BroBible, a single Michelob Ultra will cost $18, while a Stella Artois, Michelob Ultra Seltzer or cocktail will cost $19. Kona big waves will cost $15, a bottle of water is a whopping $6…you get the picture. The prices are going to be absurd, and plenty of fans are not thrilled about the spike in prices.

Seems like this virtue-signaling move wasn’t the best decision of all time.
