Word of advice…if an “ICE” [U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement] agent shows up at your door or place of work and resembles a crackhead, odds are they aren’t who they claim to be.

That’s who a woman, identified as Latrance Battle, reportedly claimed to be, which resulted in an alleged kidnapping.

Yahoo! News reported:

According to the BCSO [Bay County Sheriff's Office, Fla.], Battle instructed the victim to leave with her. The victim, who is in the process of becoming a legal U.S. resident, said she genuinely believed Battle was an ICE agent and complied out of fear.

While in the car, as the victim attempted to contact her lawyer and husband, Battle allegedly snatched the phone from her.

Officials say the victim became growingly concerned after they passed the sheriff’s office and the jail.

When they stopped at the Bridge Plaza Apartment Complex, the victim was able to escape when Battle went inside the apartment alone, and a concerned citizen assisted her in contacting authorities.

But that’s not all.

Apparently, Battle knew the woman, or knew of her, and police say that this was a “targeted incident.” You see, Battle knows the victim’s husband, possibly even an ex-boyfriend. So, being as the victim’s husband and Battle have some kind of previous “connection,” and the victim “is in the process of becoming a legal U.S. resident,” Battle allegedly kidnapped the victim to get her out of the way somehow?

Battle didn’t seem to think beyond the kidnapping, because what was she going to do the victim after the supposed abduction? She had no power to deport the victim, and the scheme was pretty apparent almost immediately when Battle took the victim to her apartment instead of any kind of government facility.

“Battle is being held on a $85,000 bond on the first three charges, and without bond on probation violation,” the report noted.
