Folks, mental illness is real, and gone untreated, this is the kind of BS we can expect as part of a warped “news cycle.” This isn’t what I thought I’d be writing when I got my degree in Journalism, but here we are.

Reportedly, a 36-year-old woman named Michele Kobke finally broke off her 9-year relationship…with an airplane.

You didn’t have a stroke. That’s apparently for real.

According to Daily Mail:

Warehouse worker Michele Köbke, 36, first entered the torrid affair with the Boeing 737-800, which she affectionately called 'Darling', in 2014.

She previously said of 'Darling': 'The 737-800 is very attractive and sexy to me. He's the most beautifully built, and he's a very attractive and elegant aircraft.’

But she revealed that she has since broken up with her partner, telling Bild the breakup was amicable: 'We're still friends.'

Well, that’s a relief that they’re still friends. I just hate when a relationship between a human being and an object ends badly. I’m glad it was amicable.

Supposedly, Kobke’s love of an airplane is classifies her as being an “objectophile.”

“It is a so-called paraphilia, a disorder of sexual preference. But as long as it does not cause suffering or conflict, it cannot be classified as pathological or in need of treatment,” forensice psychiatrist and private lecturer Dr. Werner Platz said.

That’s fine for the good doctor to call it whatever the heck he thinks, but I call it “bats**t crazy.”

Here's video from a few years ago displaying Kobke and "Darling's" love for one another:
