"The Late Show" host Stephen Colbert recently joked upon learning of his show's cancellation that he's now free to go after President Donald Trump, as if he wasn't before (That's, apparently, the joke.). But, when his comments are juxtaposed with the thought process on talking about politics during entertainment shows by the late "Late Night King," Johnny Carson, it makes Colbert's methodology and paid-for narratives as cheap, easy and small-minded.
