What makes the tragedy affecting California now even worse is that a lot of this seemingly could've been avoided for more than one reason. If not for the bad decisions of selfish and narrative-driven politicians in the state, a lot of homes and businesses would still be standing.
One theory was brought up on the Wednesday evening episode of the "Timcast IRL" podcast by host Tim Pool.
After regular panelist Phil Labonte spoke about how the "politics of nice" has adversely affected Californians, typically by Democrat politicians, Pool brought up a very good point that I hadn't heard anyone else say.
"Remember when we were this close to getting Governor Larry Elder?" Pool asked. "This wouldn't have happened. Would not have happened. And, they teamed up to shut him down, Larry Elder."
Presumably by "they," Pool means more than just the politicians, but also the activists who went so far as to assault then-candidate Elder and also the establishment propaganda media - specifically the Los Angeles Times - who labeled Elder "The Black Face of White Supremacy."

Now, no one can say for sure that that "this wouldn't have happened," but the probability of that statement being true are much higher than not.
