There’s absolutely nothing wrong with trying to make as much money as you can. That’s capitalism. And sure, there’s an element of greed in that, but you can still be slightly greedy and keep your integrity.

However, the National Basketball Association (NBA) lost their integrity years ago. Now, any chance they had at redemption is gone.

It’s was reported late Thursday evening that the NBA, after six years away, will be returning for to China for that sweet, sweet communist money. Of course, the people are not to blame for the sins of the state. But, nothing happens in that country without the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) say-so.

If you remember, then Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey voiced his support on social media for Hong Kong’s independence from the communist regime in China in 2019. There was such a backlash from the Chinese government, and league star LeBron James, that the NBA hasn’t played a single game in the slave nation since.

Well, the league and the regime have apparently agreed to hold two pre-season games for the 2025-2026 season in the country, both between the Brooklyn Nets and the Phoenix Suns.

The NBA has been a joke for a long time. It seems as though the last player that embodied what the league was in terms of having a reputation for great athletic play combined with fundamentals was the late Kobe Bryant.

These days very few play defense and most players, even the taller players who seem to be afraid of playing the low-post in the paint, jack up nothing but three-pointers and attempt to dunk the ball.

The NBA accomplished their goal of becoming a global brand years ago, and the league has suffered ever since. When they go play their games in China, maybe the whole league should just stay there, especially knowing how “tolerant” the fanbase is there.
