It appears the “Religion of Peace” has struck again. Unfortunately, this time it’s torn a family apart, all because one family member decided to take his life in a different direction — namely into Christianity.

A juvenile in Nashville, Tennessee was supposedly beaten, spat upon and attacked with a knife, because he recently converted to Christianity, according to the juvenile’s account in the police report.

According to WZTV:

The victim told officers his mother, brother and father repeatedly punched him and spat in his face. Arrest records show his mother then took a knife and scratched the back of his right hand with it.

His family demanded he take back his Christianity belief and say he was a Muslim during the attacks, the arrest record adds. The victim said the abuse continued until law enforcement arrived at the home.

Authorities were reported to have responded to a welfare check called in by the juvenile boy’s employer.

The juvenile’s family — mother, father and brother — were all taken into custody and charged separately. While the father and brother were each charged with domestic assault, the mother was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

I really try to be tolerant of every segment of the population — yes, even Muslims. But when a certain segment of people, regardless of their origin, keeps giving you negative examples that have to do directly with identifier of that segment, it’s difficult not to turn those constant examples into a stereotype that one might reference when thinking or confronted with said segment. After all, stereotypes are stereotypes for a reason. They didn’t just fall out of the sky one day.

And when a stereotype becomes more and more valid, it becomes less of a stereotype and more of an identifying piece of the aforementioned segment of the population.
