Here we go again. There must be an election this year, because the World Health Organization (WHO) starting their fear campaign for the…checks notes…”MPox.” Yes, it’s Monkey Pox, but they probably don’t want it to be “triggering,” so they’ve shortened it.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced on Wednesday that, based on the advice from “the emergency committee,” there’s a “publical [sic] emergency of international concern.”

“The detection and a rapid spread of a new clade of mpox in eastern D.R.C. (Democratic Republic of Congo), its detection in neighboring countries that had not previously reported mpox, and the potential for further spread within Africa and beyond is very worrying,” Ghebreyesus said.

I’m not saying that this is a big nothing burger, but I’m not not saying it either. This wouldn’t be troubling in the least if countries like the U.S. didn’t have very open borders.

However, I simply don’t see people — should it get to that point — complying the way they did during the 2020 COVID pandemic.
