What do leftists do when their narratives are shot to hell by reality? Blame Trump. Blame whitey. Blame the victim. Blame the outraged and hurt.

That’s exactly what disgraceful Athens, Georgia Mayor Kelly Girtz (D) did on Wednesday during a press conference in which onlookers loudly called him out for his ignorance and insensitivity.

In the wake of the “alleged” kidnapping and murder of 22-year-old nursing student Laken Riley last week by 26-year-old Venezuelan migrant Jose Ibarra, Girtz called on the public to respect the human dignity of migrants and invoked the false claim that former President Donald Trump vilified “foreign born” people.

“We center our work here in Athens-Clarke County with humanity. Part of everybody’s humanity  is the expectation of human dignity,” Girtz said. “While 2019 was not that long ago, you might remember the dynamic we were living in, in the late teens in this country, where you had the president of the United States speaking in the most vile terms about people who are foreign born. And you had that notion metastasizing in places like Charlottesville…”

That’s when Girtz was interrupted by angry constituents who accused him of being lawless.

“You are lawless, mister mayor!” the man exclaimed.

“What we wish to do is dignify everybody’s humanity,” Girtz said after the interruption.

Even the humanity of a man who baselessly, “allegedly” kidnapped and murdered an innocent woman, while also being in the country illegally, therefore being a criminal from the word jump? Does that person deserves humanity, Mayor Girtz? What about the humanity of Laken Riley? Oh, she doesn’t have that anymore, because someone who shouldn’t be here in the first place — who you believe should receive the same treatment as legal Americans — felt the need to continue being a criminal piece of garbage.

Get over your virtue-signaling self righteousness, sir. It’s not a good look, and we can smell a fake from a mile away.
