This story is precisely the problem with the bloated federal government. They create a problem only to ignore it. Then individual states attempt to take matters into their own hands because of the aforementioned ignorance of the federal government. Then the federal government chastises the individual states for taking matters into their own hands because of their ignorance that they say they’re doing but, in fact, are not.

So it sounds about right that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is threatening the state of Texas with a lawsuit should it go ahead with the enforcement of a new law, Senate Bill 4, that “allows state police to arrest people suspected of illegally crossing the border,” according to The Texas Tribune.

According to a letter sent to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) by Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Brian M. Boynton:

Texas recently enacted Senate Bill 4 (SB4), which will become effective on March 5, 2024. The law purports to create new state crimes tied to federal prohibitions on unlawful entry and reentry by noncitizens into the United States, and it would authorize state judges to order he removal of certain noncitizens from the country. SB 4 is preempted and violates the United States Constitution. Accordingly, the United States intends to file suit to enjoin the enforcement of SB 4 unless Texas agrees to refrain from enforcing the law. The United States is committed to both securing the border and ensuring the processing of noncitizens consistent with the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). SB 4 is contrary to these goals.

So a law that would penalize people illegally entering the country is “contrary” to the federal government’s supposed “goals” of “securing the border?” Wouldn’t that law help secure the border that the DOJ allegedly wants to protect?

Oh, and “noncitizens” means illegal immigrants. Let’s not get it twisted. This is just another case of the federal government vilifying law abiding bodies while protecting criminals.

Maybe if the federal government showed the people any proof that they actually cared about securing the border, someone somewhere might take their lawsuit seriously. But when eight to 12 thousand illegal cross the border every single day, you’d think the federal government would welcome the aid from individual states in doing what they claim they want — to secure the border.

“SB 4 likewise improperly regulates the movement of persons across an International boundary and undermines the United States’ foreign relations,” the letter said later on.

“Foreign relations?” With who? There are dozens of countries from which migrants originate from. Are any of these countries monetarily aiding the U.S. in their allowance of unfettered immigration?

And how constitutional is it for the American government to prioritize criminals above actual law-abiding Americans?
