“You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”

The quote above can apply to those who run the city of Chicago and all its different entities, like the Chicago Board of Education. The quote is applicable, because — perhaps, once upon a time — the “leaders” of the city wanted to actually help people. These days, based on the decisions they’ve made and want to make, it’s almost as if they want their constituents to suffer.

According to CBS 2 - Chicago, the board will be holding a vote on Thursday to decide whether or not to remove school resource officers from the 39 Chicago Public Schools (CPS) that utilize them.

The board reportedly wants to develop a “safety plan” and are calling on CPS to conceive “a holistic approach to school safety.”

While there are some members of communities who are against the removal, there are those that have been brainwashed to believe that their schools — some of which are the most violent in the city — are better off without police, who they’ve been taught to believe are all bad.

Those who oppose school resource officers say students arrested on campus often end up in the criminal justice system for in-school disciplinary incidents.

Some students and organizers who want police out of schools are expected to speak during a protest before the meeting on Thursday.

As alluded to at the top, it almost seems as if city leaders want people to be less safe and without recourse when bad things happen, which seems to be more frequent in recent years.
