What do you do when teacher’s and administrators in your child’s school persecute your kid because of their own biases, but don’t know what they’re talking about when giving the reason? It kind of sounds like how social media platforms censor people with either no explanation or a severe lack of understanding of anything outside their bubble.

A 12-year-old boy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, identified as “Jaiden,” was removed from a class on Monday for having a Gadsden flag patch on his backpack. Jaiden’s mother appears to have recorded the exchange between herself, her child and the school.

While the school’s director reportedly said in an email that the patch was “disruptive to the classroom environment,” the school representative that explained the discipline to Jaiden’s mother clearly had no clue what she was talking about.

“The reason we do not want the flag displayed is due to its origins with slavery and slave trade,” the woman ignorantly said.

Even Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) defended displaying the Gadsden flag, and even explained its importance in historical context.

The Gadsden flag, which is famous for the coiled snake and “Don’t Tread On Me” slogan, originated during the Revolutionary War and was used by the U.S.’s first naval commander in chief, Esek Hopkins. Encyclopedia Britannica’s online resource does NOT mention “slavery” or the “slave trade” once on the page dedicated to the Gadsden flag.

This appears to feed into the anti-right bias that is pervasive in schools all the way down to the elementary level. And if you just rolled your eyes at that last sentence, then explain why displaying a three-inch flag on a backpack is more acceptable in a school setting than the trans flag, the LGTBQ-LMNOP flag or the Black Lives Matter flag that so many “educators” were duped into displaying following the Summer of Floyd.

Heck, in most states you can get the Gadsden flag as your license plate background. But it’s totally racist because “educators” that need to be educated themselves seem to be dumber than the students.
