Ugh, government. I’m not saying we shouldn’t have any government at all, but I believe it should be as limited as possible while fulfilling whatever its duties are to the nth degree. But the failures of those politicians and government wastes of space in southern California seem to be a drain on the system—pun very much intended.
Apparently, the woman in charge of the water and power for the city of Los Angeles (L.A.) is one of the highest-paid employees for their entire government system. Oh, and she was appointed by L.A.’s cowardly Mayor Karen Bass.
Janisse Quinones is the head of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and makes a reported $750,000 per year, according to the Los Angeles Times.
By the way, what’s one of the major problems we’ve seen during the tragic fires affecting the county? The fire hydrants have little to no water.
That falls on Quinones’ shoulders. This seems like another case of a DEI hire getting maximum pay for minimal effort.
Sure, all of this doesn’t only land on Quinones’ desk, but for a place that’s known for fires not having any water and you’re in charge of water? Well, a good portion of the blame rightfully should go to Quinones and Bass.

The LA Times also reported in April of 2024:
Quiñones is also a commander in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve who spent five years on active duty, according to a 2021 interview that appeared in a PG&E publication.
“Very little rattles me,” Quiñones told the publication, describing how her Coast Guard background helped her prepare for working in the energy industry.
Bass’ office, in a statement announcing Quiñones’ nomination, said the executive “has the skill set and leadership experience to advance the department into 100% clean energy by 2035.”
So, Quinones has the “skill set” to push leftist policies into practice, but her “skill set” apparently didn’t include the base purpose of her job — properly managing the water and power systems.
Who gives a crap about “clean energy” when everything you do helps no one except yourselves in lining your own pockets?
Shame.
