A good portion of those in Hollywood live in a bubble. Some just don't know any better because they've resided there since they were children. And then there are those within those parameters that have been fed propaganda so long that they truly believe the nonsense that comes out of their mouths.
Take "Two and a Half Men" star Jon Cryer, or if you prefer, "Ducky" from the 80s teen classic "Pretty in Pink."
Ducky joined Bill Maher on his "Club Random with Bill Maher" podcast, an episode that was released on Sunday, and for all the things that Maher gets wrong - and he gets more wrong than most conservatives want to admit - he is quite reasonable when it comes to the topic of wokeness.
Maher basically told Ducky that one of the big reasons the Democrats lost in the 2024 Election was "wokeness." Cryer countered by saying that while that might've played a part, inflation is the thing Americans didn't and don't like, among other things. Those "other things" made even Maher cringe to the point he posited that, maybe, they shouldn't talk politics.
"We just had the election, and I feel like my conscience is very clear. I warned everybody about [President-elect Donald] Trump," Maher said. "Then I warned them about what would get him re-elected, which was stupid wokeness, which is what got him re-elected. So, my conscience is very clear. I told you and I told you and I told you - and I lost fans for it - lots of super woke, like I'm not woke enough for them...I think I'm right. That kind of stuff is what lost the election for the Democrats."
That's when Cryer listed off the things he feels Americans don't like.

"I think it's inflation," Cryer responded. "I think Americans hate inflation. They hate inflation, they hate riots and they hate black women and they hate trans people..."
"Oh God, John! We're not gonna..." Maher said while visibly recoiling in his chair.
"Yeah, we shouldn't talk politics," Maher continued. "I mean, I have this kind of relationship with people on the right also who, like yeah, it's just going to take so long to even have this discussion, and just like I would like to de-program them, I feel like there's things don't get in your bubble on the left to de-program."
Notice how Cryer referred to "Americans" and not Republicans or Democrats. You can audibly hear the elitist disdain, along with confidence, that he has when he labels the entire country as racists and transphobic. By the way, Cryer is an American actor - born in New York - so maybe he's just projecting his own hatred. Although to be fair, he was more upset about the alleged hatred he feels Americans have for the trans community than for black women.
