Why is it that legacy media’s supposed “journalists” can’t figure out the details of a story, but independent journalists and journalists from lesser known media outlets can?
Case in point is the story of the woman in the now-viral video who is being reported as an active military member joining the anti-ICE protests/riots in Los Angeles.
Newsweek reported that they “could not independently verify the veracity of the video” and that the only clue they found, which they didn’t follow up on, was the name tag on the woman’s uniform.
In the video, the woman made a couple of statements that made her sound like more of an activist and less of an active duty service member.
“We, in our oath to serve, we serve the people of the United States, the Constitution,” the woman said. “These constitutional right are being stripped and just denied. And the military will not be pawns to that.”
That was the first clue as to the woman’s “veracity” of being an active service member, that she spoke as if she was speaking for all military members.
“We have a conscience,” the woman added, “a mind and we have a duty and moral obligation to say no resist.”

That right there was the other clue that she was acting more as an activist. Her saying “we serve the people of the United States” does NOT apply to people who are in the country illegally, but to actual citizens that the military is supposed to protect.
Well, Rightside Media Founder Phil Williams did a little digging, and it didn’t seem that difficult to find out more about this woman.
As you’ll see in Williams’ X post below, he showed that the woman is a U.S. Army veteran, but is not on “active duty,” but rather she’s “prior-service Army.” The woman, identified as Carmen Colado, has multiple overtly political posts on her Instagram where she wrote in her bio that she’s the “Proud daughter of an illegal immigrant hero who saved my life.” You can watch the video of Colado's statement.
There's been a lot of chatter on socials about "Sergeant Colado" siding with anti-Trump anti-ICE protestors.....let's be clear:

- she is not "active duty" - she is prior-service Army
- she does not speak for the military
- she wore her uniform in a manner and for a purpose not… pic.twitter.com/4Bsutt9Quy
So, it’s not clear if she’s an “anchor baby,” but it shouldn’t be discounted that she supposedly is a veteran. However, she’s clearly an activist who is using her uniform to build a narrative that active military members are against the wishes of the president.
One user on X pointed out “The Oath of Enlistment (for enlisted),” which says, “I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me.”
..and she is dead wrong in her assessment.

She'd better be sure her "six year" commitment has expired.... pic.twitter.com/qEljrdj3dC
So should this woman be allowed to call for other military members to defy the orders of President Donald Trump, or are her actions merely theater motivated by her activism?
