NH Dad Protects Family Using a T-Ball Bat Against Prison Escapee

A New Hampshire father jumped to action to protect his family - by using an aluminum t-ball bat against a prison escapee.

Mark Chetwynd was reportedly building a snowman with his daughter outside their East Kingston home on Saturday when a man in an orange jumpsuit approached, reported Fox News.

The dad immediately sent his daughter inside and grabbed the closest thing he could find: an aluminum t-ball bat.

Chetwynd acted quickly to prevent the escaped prisoner from stealing his truck, using the t-ball bat as a prop to keep the criminal from shutting the vehicle’s door.

"As he was trying to shut it, I had [the bat] right here so he couldn't close it," Chetwynd said.

He then delivered “a whack or two,” enough to subdue the man in orange until the police came in to arrest him.

"I was about in the back of the truck when I gave him a whack or two."

The prisoner reportedly escaped from a nearby hospital during an x-ray. Authorities say the man is now facing new charges.
