The NFL will feature the league’s first male cheerleaders this season, courtesy of the Los Angeles Rams and the New Orleans Saints, who both recently hired their first male dancers to their cheerleading squads.

CNN reports that while several other NFL teams have stuntmen who perform during halftime shows, this marks the first time in history that men will be featured doing the same dance moves as their female counterparts on the football field.

And I don’t just mean by helping launch women into the air in somersaults like a gymnast – I’m talking spins, high-kicks and full-on booty shakes. Because in the Age of Gender Equality, God forbid we reserve some small part of any sporting event for, you know, women.

Jesse Hernandez, 25, said his mom inspired him to try out for the Saints’ cheerleading team.

“She told me it was my time to shine,” he said.
