One New Yorker held a “pizza party” at City Hall on Monday - by throwing pizzas at the building in protest of proposed regulations on coal- and wood-fired pizzerias.

Scott LoBaido, a conservative artist and activist, posted a video of the event on Twitter Monday, taking aim at New York City’s “woke-ass” policies that include a proposed regulation targeting pizzerias’ carbon emissions. The new rule, brought by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection, would require restaurants that use coal- or wood-fired ovens to reduce their carbon emissions by 75%.

“The woke-ass idiots who run this city are doing everything in their power to destroy it,” LoBaido said in his video. He went on to call out explicit "Pride" events, the immigration crisis, the city's COVID-19 response, and poor education standards for turning New York City into New York “Sh**ty.”

“The world used to respect New Yorkers as tough, thick-skinned, and gritty. Now we have become pussified. It’s a damn shame,” LoBaido said.

LoBaido compared his protest to the Boston Tea Party, ending his speech by declaring, “Give us pizza or give us death!” before throwing pizza slices over a gate and at the City Hall building. He continued to yell as he threw the food, repeating his cry for “pizza or death” and saying that “New York City is nothing without pizza.” Two police officers walked up to LoBaido as he was finishing up his protest, just before the video ended.

If the proposed mandate is enacted, restaurants that use coal- or wood-fired ovens would be forced to install air filtration systems, equipment that can cost upwards of $20,000. Additionally, the systems require frequent maintenance as often as every few weeks, which would add greater expense for owners.

LoBaido is not the only one to oppose the potential measure. Others have spoken out against the changes on social media, including Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports. In a video he posted to Twitter, Portnoy expressed his deep disdain for the possible change to the New York pizza scene.

“You’re gonna come after pizzeria’s for f—ing global warming? Are you f—ing nuts?” Portnoy said in the nearly three-minutes long video. “Leave the f—ing pizzerias alone.”

Portnoy released a t-shirt depicting a pizza in an oven with the words “Come and take it” beneath it, available to for purchase on the Barstool Sports website.
